The Full Catastrophe
In the 1964 film Zorba the Greek, a weary Anthony Quinn as Zorba sums up his recognition of life’s richness and variety, along with its chaos and challenges as “the full catastrophe."
In their songs, Melissa Rosen and Mark Deffenbaugh offer brief, intimate scenes from across the spectrum of the good, the bad and the ugly of life — each of us has our own version.
Maybe it's an old story. It probably is. But when a group of people get together to see what kind of sound they might make, and listen to and support each other in the making of it, and it turns out to be a sound that brings smiles and nods of confirmation … well, that's one of life's gifts. And it seems to happen to us, a lot.
Jesse and Tom are grateful to Melissa and Mark for this opportunity to help shape their music and for making us feel respected for what we can contribute.
Running In Place is our first studio recording, taped at the Lexington studio of Grammy-nominated producer, mixer, and studio owner, Duane Lundy. Produced and mixed by Mark Deffenbaugh. We have several more in various stages and hope to have them join “Running” in the near future.
